Still awaiting Nottinghamshire First Class Debut

Quick bowler Matt Milnes will be hoping to burst through into the Nottinghamshire first team, after signing his first full contract with the county during the off-season.

Milnes played two first class matches for Durham MCCU whilst graduating with a teaching degree at the university there.

He played his club cricket for Plumtree before joining the Notts academy and his performances at that level have brought appearances in the second eleven, as well as gaining a number of first team squad placements.

As a fielding substitute, he helped complete a stunning boundary catch for Notts in their championship match at Wantage Road against Northants last September. Rory Kleinveldt’s mighty blow was athletically parried back into play by Brett Hutton, enabling the alert Milnes to dive and scoop up the offering.

With Notts almost down to their bare bones, he then fielded throughout the final game of last season, the promotion-securing contest against Sussex at Hove, an experience that has left him yearning for the chance to make an impression of his own.
