Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 23 August 2016 Scarborough, Yorkshire

Tom Moores has been eased into the Nottinghamshire first team over the past couple of seasons and will be looking to nail down a starting berth in all three formats during 2018.

The emergence of the talented young wicketkeeper-batsman has been timely, with the county embarking on the difficult task of replacing Chris Read behind the stumps.

Son of head coach Peter Moores, he sampled his first taste of county cricket with a short loan spell at Lancashire in early 2016. He returned to his parent county to make a promising debut with contributions of 23 and 41.

The former England Under 19 international had already shown his appetite for the big occasion by scoring a century to help Notts clinch the Second Eleven Championship in 2015.

His form as a hard-hitting left-handed batsman persuaded the coaching staff to promote him to number three in the order in last season’s T20 Blast competition and he responded with a number of telling contributions.

A classy half century in a win at Derby earned his first man-of-the-match honours in senior cricket and he ended that competition with a winners medal as part of the Outlaws side that triumphed in the final over Birmingham Bears.
