Mark Wood's match figures of 9-100, in just his second match back since the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup final, guided England to an emphatic 3-1 series victory over South Africa.

The Durham speedster's efforts, the best overseas by an England bowler since Ryan Sidebottom in 2008, gave Joe Root's men an 191-run victory to maintain their strong away record against the Proteas.

After England's openers, Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley, shared in a century opening stand allowing the Three Lions to post 400 in their first innings for the second time on tour before Wood and the bowlers got to work on dismantling any South African resistance, the hosts all out 183 in response.

Quick runs were added by the Three Lions and, despite Rassie van der Dussen battling hard in the Proteas' second innings, falling just short of his first Test century, England went on to seal a series-clenching victory, led by the pace trio of Stuart Broad, Wood and Ben Stokes.
