Building a strong backbone for the sport cannot be done without ensuring that the next generation of officials and scorers are waiting in the wings. Amy Coyne, a dedicated member of our workforce, has led a first-of-its-kind training and mentor- ship programme for aspiring umpires, providing women-only foundational training for a wide range of ages in a supportive environment. 38 women and girls have been trained on the Introduction to Umpiring and Scoring programme, with another 24 attending the subsequent ECB umpiring course. Upskilling and maintaining the existing coaching force across the county is of particular importance. 85 coaches have been trained through the delivery of nine core and foundation coaching courses, while 40 have renewed their First Aid qualifications and 32 coaches from ethnically-diverse backgrounds were the recipients of ECB bursaries to fund their development. More than 40 recreational club safe- guarding officers have attended a Safe Hands course in the last year, whilst we identified three new coach developers to support the delivery of coaching courses in 2025 and beyond. 14 32 coaches from ethnically- diverse backgrounds were the recipients of ECB bursaries to fund their development WORKFORCE Increase & improve the quality and diversity of our workforce of officials, coaches, grounds people and volunteers.
