Calvin Harrison and Ben Mayes have been called up for England Lions’ T20 and 50-over squads for a tour to the Caribbean to face West Indies A next month.
Leg-spinning all-rounder Harrison, 28, has represented the Rockets for the past three seasons, and claimed ten wickets as the men’s side topped the table before finishing as runners-up.
Meanwhile, batter Mayes, 18, was bought by the Rockets at this year’s Auction for his first taste of The Hundred, and formed part of the squad’s depth in a run to the final.
Mayes has been named in both the T20 squad, which includes 14 players, and in a 17-strong 50-over group, while Harrison has been selected in the former squad only.
The tour comprises three T20s and five 50-over matches, with all fixtures taking place at two grounds in St Kitts & Nevis.
Southern Brave teenager Thomas Rew will captain on the T20 leg, which is made up of three games, before Dan Lawrence of SunRisers Leeds takes over for the subsequent five ODIs.
England Lions Head Coach, Jonathan Trott, said: “I’m excited to get to work with a hugely talented group of players starting with this white-ball tour of the Caribbean.
“I’ve spoken about how important the Lions was in my career and now it’s my role to help prepare younger players for what lays ahead of them in international cricket.
“I also want to create a culture where England players will benefit from coming back and working in this environment to push for national team selection across formats and by performing and helping the Lions to win games of cricket.
“This squad has a mix of Centrally Contracted and Development Contract players which reflects some of the highest performing and most precious talent around the game.”
