Trent Rockets have been crowned runaway winners of the inaugural Hundred Helix trophy for best overall team across the men’s and women’s competitions.
The Helix, which is in its first year, counts points won by both representative sides of each Hundred team, with additional bonuses on offer for teams who topped the group stage.
Both the Rockets men and women achieved that, in another first for the competition, and thus banked eight bonus points in addition to the 56 they gained from winning a total of 14 matches.
In collecting a total of 64 points, the Rockets, who won their first women’s title this year, finished clear of men’s winners Manchester Super Giants, who claimed a combined 46 points.
SunRisers Leeds finished third with 44, while basement-dwellers Birmingham Phoenix managed just 14 to ignominiously prop up both the men’s and the combined standings.
After a rollercoaster of a race, the Helix was officially confirmed to be heading to Trent Bridge when the Rockets women defeated Southern Brave at home to book their spot in the Final.
That victory was worth eight points, made up of four for the win and four for the table-topping bonus, and meant they could no longer be caught by SunRisers, regardless of other results.
