Craig Overton has been named as captain of the 2026 IG PCA Men’s Team of the Year following his role in Trent Rockets Men’s run to The Hundred Final.

Overton, 32, returns to the Team of the Year for a fourth time, though his latest appearance is the first time he captains the side, which is an honour reserved for the best-rated player in it.

He claimed eight wickets for the Rockets as the side topped The Hundred Men’s group-stage table with six wins from eight, ultimately going on to finish as runners-up.

The big all-rounder’s best return with the ball came in a six-wicket win over Manchester Super Giants at Emirates Old Trafford, as he claimed 3/23 from his 20 balls.

He was dismissed just once with the bat too, as his top score of 20 not out came against London Spirit at Trent Bridge and included him hitting his twin brother Jamie for six to win the game.

Overton has also been named as a PCA Player of the Year nominee, with the recipient of that award to be announced at the PCA’s End of Season Awards later this week.

The PCA Most Valuable Player Rankings selects a well-balanced side with MVP points from all domestic competitions, including The Hundred, taken into consideration.

The MVP takes into account batting, bowling, and fielding contributions, as well as match-defining efforts using a unique algorithm developed by CricViz.

Overton’s 680 points put him comfortably clear as the first name in the Team of the Year, far ahead of the 482 achieved by Martin Andersson and the haul of 479 garnered by Joe Clarke.
