Big-hitting Ealham can't stop Dynamos

June 28
Twenty20 Cup
Notts Outlaws 179-9 (Ealham 45, Swann 44)
Durham Dynamos 180-4 (Patel 2-31, Swann 1-26)

Dynamos won by six wickets

Ealham thumped five sixes and a four off one over from Durham seamer Neil Killeen but it wasn?t enough to earn victory.

Said Ealham: "I had a chat with Chris Read before the start of the final four overs and we agreed it was time to go on the attack.

"There was a strong breeze blowing across the ground which we were looking to use. I hung back in the crease to make the yorker more difficult and unfortunately for Neil Killeen he ended up bowling right in the slot for me.

"The second ball in the over was a bit fuller so I put that through fine leg but the rest were just in my arc to hit over the shorter leg-side boundary."

Ealham top-scored with 45 from just 17 deliveries, while opener Graeme Swann made 44 as we set the hosts 180 to win.

The match went down to the wire again but Gordon Mustard and Dale Benkenstein managed to hit 20 off the last two overs for the win.

Ealham added: "It was disappointing to lose because I felt at the end of our innings we had enough runs to win the game on a slow pitch.

"But once again we got to the finish and missed that little bit of luck we needed to get the victory.

"We?ll need to win all four of our remaining matches now but the improvements we?ve made to our batting give me confidence we can do it."
