Samit's best can't beat Middlesex
Middlesex Crusaders 314-5
Notts Outlaws 283 (Patel 82, Read 45)
Middlesex won by 31 runs
Set a mammoth 315 to beat Middlesex, we ended up 32 runs short of victory despite Patel?s 82 from 79 balls but the 20-year-old claims he is still having a dream season for the Outlaws.
He said: "We ended up giving them 30 runs too many and if we had been chasing 290 or so we would have been right in there.
"As it was, we had to take risks from the first ball and that was always going to make things tough.
"At one point I did think we could win it because myself and Chris Read were just about keeping up with the run-rate but I got a good yorker and Chris played one shot too many.
"I was really pleased with my innings because I paced myself well and hit the bad balls. This season is going better than I could have hoped because I never expected to be batting so high up the order.
"Hopefully I?ll get the chance to impress in front of some big crowds in Twenty20. It?s all about hitting the ball out of the park and we all love the buzz and excitement."
