Darren Bravo Poised
For Notts Debut

Darren Bravo will go straight into the Notts Outlaws team to face Glamorgan in Friday’s floodlit Clydesdale Bank 40 match at Trent Bridge after agreeing to join the club until the end of the season.

The half-brother of international teammate Dwayne Bravo and a relation of Brian Lara, Darren is expected to bat at number three for Nottinghamshire having been drafted in following the departures of David Hussey and Adam Voges.

He has a Test batting average of 39.88 from eight matches having made his Test debut for the West Indies in November. Two of the six Test Match fifties he has to his name came against India and Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell is confident that his new signing can make a positive impact.

“We scoured the world to find an overseas batsman to reinforce our top order and we felt that Darren was a player who was worth pursuing,” said Newell.

“He has an excellent record for a 22 year old batsman and we feel that he is a player who has the hunger to succeed in county cricket. His Test record demonstrates that he is comfortable in adapting to different conditions and we’re hopeful that he can make a good contribution between now and the end of the season.”

Bravo becomes the fourth overseas player to arrive at Trent Bridge this season following Hussey, Voges and Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal who enjoyed a stint during the Outlaws’ Friends Life t20 campaign.

Nottinghamshire have four LV= County Championship matches and three Clydesdale Bank 40 matches remaining this season.
