Rain throughout the morning prevented any play before 3pm and then only allowed seventy minutes before thunder and lightning drove the players from the field.
 
During the short passage of play Akhil Patel and Neil Edwards were as untroubled as the visiting opening pair had been the previous day on a pitch that offered no encouragement to the bowlers.
 
However shortly before the storm arrived Edwards had the unwanted distinction of being the only wicket to fall in the match as he was leg before to Jake Needham for 32. Patel was 37 not out at the end.
