Notts Outlaws all-rounder Steven Mullaney believes that good form at Trent Bridge will be the key to securing safe passage to the quarter-finals of the Friends Life t20.

Notts face Durham Dynamos on Friday in a run of four home games in ten days knowing that their home record in recent seasons puts them amongst the leading contenders to qualify.

“We pride ourselves on winning matches at Trent Bridge and our record in limited overs cricket this season shows that we’re particularly strong at home,” said Mullaney, who continues to open the batting in LV= County Championship cricket.

“Michael Lumb played the innings of his life to take them apart when we played them away but we’re expecting a tough game on Friday.” Steven Mullaney

“We’re playing attacking cricket and David Hussey is always looking for us to take wickets rather than save runs when we’re bowling so there’s a clear method that is working for us.”

The Outlaws over-powered Durham in one of the most one-sided matches of the season so far in the reverse fixture at Chester le Street but Mullaney has warned that they are a quality outfit.

“You look at the names in the squad and you put Durham amongst the most dangerous sides in the competition but they haven’t fulfilled their billing recently,” he said.

“Michael Lumb played the innings of his life to take them apart when we played them away but we’re expecting a tough game on Friday.”

Mullaney has batted just twice in the competition so far with the top order scoring freely with wickets in hand.

“I prefer not to have to bat in these games because that’s an indication that things are going well but I’ve been a bit disappointed with my general performances,” he said.

“I need to stay one step ahead when I’m bowling and I’m working on a few new things which should help me to get amongst the wickets.”
