Following on from the success of the inaugural cycling event in 2013 which raised nearly £300,000, ex-England cricketer Darren Gough has announced another charity ride organised by Investec Wealth & Investment in July, with Trent Bridge one of the venues that will be visited.

The charity cycle ride, which will cover over 300 miles this summer, will raise funds for a number of charities including the Lord’s Taverners, the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity.

To mark the 10th anniversary of England’s famous 2-1 series win against Australia, the Investec Ashes 2015 Cycle Challenge will see over 100 fundraisers cycle between all five 2005 Ashes venues, starting at Old Trafford on 12 July 2015 and finishing at the Kia Oval on 15 July 2015, via Trent Bridge, Edgbaston and Lord’s.

This will be the second time Investec Wealth & Investment staff have taken on such a challenge with Gough and the class of 2015 be aiming to raise even more funds this year to provide at least five accessible Lord’s Taverners minibuses for special educational needs schools across the UK, enabling young people with disabilities to enjoy sporting opportunities.

Gough will be joined by a number of celebrity ambassadors on the challenge including former Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Stoke City footballer Matthew Etherington, and former Olympic diver and silver medallist Leon Taylor.

On the upcoming ride, Gough said: “I am really looking forward to taking part in the Investec Ashes 2015 Cycle Challenge. I have been training hard in preparation, and having enjoyed many Ashes battles throughout my playing career, I’m now looking forward to a similar one on my bike!”
