The first day of Nottinghamshire’s LV= County Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston was wiped out without a ball being bowled.
Early morning drizzle persisted long enough to delay the start, although the umpires optimistically called for an early lunch to be taken at midday.
Warwickshire’s ground staff briefly began removing some of the covers in early afternoon but the rain intensified and worsening conditions necessitated play being abandoned for the day.
With the toss being postponed, neither county has confirmed their starting line-up as yet, although England pair Alex Hales and James Taylor are expected to return for Notts.
