Nottinghamshire's seconds fell 54 runs behind Worcestershire on the first day of their Championship match at the Royal Grammar School.

Notts won the toss, elected to bat, and scored 92 all out – with opening batsman Sam Wood's 36, and 26 in the middle-order from Dominic Brown providing the only meaningful resistance.

Left-arm seamer Jack Shantry finished with 7-39 off 15.5 overs for Worcestershire.

The home side closed the day on 150-3 in reply, despite opener George Newton being caught in the third over by Tom Keast off Ben Kitt after failing to score, with Will Fraine finishing 65 not out, Alexei Kervezee scoring 44 and Alex Hepburn 33.

The light did not improve, meaning further play was not possible with the score 150-3, Fraine on 65 and Alex Milton on five; Notts’ Kitt, meanwhile, took two of their wickets.

Notts Outlaws will face the Essex Eagles in the quarter-final of the NatWest T20 Blast, with a 6.30pm start on Monday 8 August at Trent Bridge, and tickets are on sale now.
