Notts Outlaws host Essex Eagles in the quarter finals of the NatWest T20 Blast at Trent Bridge on Monday evening, 8 August 2016 with a 6.30pm start.

The clash is a repeat of the 2013 match, at the same stage, when the visitors took the spoils.

Notts have not been defeated in this competition since the beginning of June and have established a county record by winning their last eight matches in a row.

Essex come to Nottingham having finished fourth in the South Group table this year.

The prize for both counties is a place at this year’s Finals Day, to be held at Edgbaston on Saturday 20 August.

Head To Head

The 2013 quarter final tie at Trent Bridge was the only previous occasion that Notts and Essex have faced each other in the domestic T20 competition.

Notts will be looking for revenge after suffering a 47-run loss on that occasion.

Last Meeting

Exactly three years ago, 8th August 2013, Notts Outlaws faced Essex Eagles at Trent Bridge at the same quarter final stage of the domestic T20 competition.

In front of a crowd of 12,106, the Outlaws slipped to a 47-run loss, their third consecutive defeat at the same stage of the competition.

Essex made 187 for six, after being put in, with Ryan ten Doeschate scoring 82 and Ian Butler taking three for 23, his best for the Outlaws, and Jake Ball two for 38.

In reply, Notts’ openers were quickly out of the blocks and put 42 on in the first three overs but then 35-year old David Masters accounted for Alex Hales, Michael Lumb and James Taylor inside eight deliveries.

David Hussey led the fightback with 61 before becoming the first wicket to fall in a Shaun Tait hat-trick as Notts folded for 140 in 17.2 overs.

Tait had made his Test debut at Trent Bridge in 2005 and found another reason to cherish the ground as he then had Butler (1) caught and White (0) yorked to claim a hat-trick and end with figures of four for 29.

Essex advanced to the Edgbaston Finals Day but were defeated by Northants Steelbacks at the semi final stage.

History

This will be Nottinghamshire’s eighth T20 quarter final, all of them at home. Notts are also on an eight-match unbeaten run – Surrey (13) and Yorkshire (9) are the only county sides to better this recent sequence.

Notts have only reached Finals Day on two occasions, 2006 and 2010.
