Will Gidman, who has been back in action for Nottinghamshire’s Second XI recently having recovered from an ankle injury, has joined Kent on a month’s loan.

The 31-year-old is due to play six matches during this period, four in the Royal London One-Day Cup followed by two in the Specsavers County Championship.

His Kent debut is likely to come against Middlesex at Lord's on Sunday, followed by Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl, a home clash with his former county Gloucestershire and a trip to Hove to face Sussex.

Gidman, who has taken 198 wickets at 23.48 in his first class career overall, could then feature with the red ball against Worcestershire at Canterbury, before rounding off his spell with a further contest against his ex-colleagues, this time at Bristol.

“Having spent some time injured, Will has made his comeback in the second team recently,” said Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“The next stage is to get some First XI cricket under his belt, so he can get back to competing for a place in our side.”
