England international twirler Stephen Parry bowled Lancashire to a two-day Second XI Championship victory over Nottinghamshire in Liverpool today.
The left-arm spinner collected six for 38 as Notts were all out for 156 in their second innings, setting the home side a target of just 89 to secure victory.
Luis Reece and Rob Jones contributed unbeaten knocks of 33 and 37 respectively to secure a nine wicket triumph for the Red Rose.
The visitors had reason to be relatively content with the early part of the day as Lancashire’s overnight 155-4 became 271 all out with three wickets for Australian trialist Trent Lawford and two for Matthew Carter, who was responsible for the dismissal of both Parry, for 47, and Nathan Buck for 50.
Ben Kitt bagged the wicket of Rob Jones for 76 to complete an innings haul of 3-61.
Lancashire led by 67, but saw their lead confidently eroded by Ben Curran (42) and Billy Root (32) in a second wicket stand of 74 that took the score to 90-1.
But the subsequent collapse of nine wickets for 66 runs against the spin of Parry and Arron Lilley (2-16) effectively sealed the fate of Sam Wood’s men.
Academy leg-spinner Connor Marshall made the only breakthrough of the run-chase, dismissing Tom Smith caught by Lawford at midwicket for 20, cueing a flurry of boundaries from Jones to secure the Lancashire victory.
