Nottinghamshire CCC’s Samit Patel took on Mansfield Town boss Steve Evans and won in the all-rounder’s latest testimonial year event – a pulsating Question of Sport battle.

The newly-crowned PCA Players’ Player of the Year was joined in the visiting team at the Stags’ One Call Stadium by Trent Bridge’s Assistant Head Coach Paul Franks and Bowling Coach Andy Pick.

The home team saw Scot Evans line up alongside his Assistant Manager Paul Raynor and Head of Performance Analysis Sean O’Callaghan.

The two sides’ competitive sporting instinct came to the fore as they navigated their way through some of the traditional QoS favourites such as the Picture Board, Mystery Guest, What Happened Next? and Sprint Finish.

There were plenty of jokes and banter that had the audience laughing along before the cricketers eventually ran out narrow 25-23 winners.

Simon Fotheringham, Commercial Operations Manager at Notts County FC, took on the Sue Barker role of question master for the event, which supported three charities – The Broad Appeal, The PCA Benevolent Fund and The Trent Bridge Community Trust.

It also featured a raffle, a pie and pea supper and a question and answer session with Patel talking about his superb 2017 season.
