Nottinghamshire’s seconds fell to defeat in the first of their Second Eleven Twenty20 matches against Lancashire in Liverpool but redeemed themselves with victory in the second match.

They were swept aside in the first game with the Red Rose amounting a total of 200 from their 20 overs thanks to Danny Lamb’s 86 from 39 balls.

Liam Patterson-White’s good form continued as he took three wickets, including Haseeb Hameed and Tom Bailey, whilst Jack Balctherwick, Chris Gibson and Kamau Laverock took the other Lancashire wickets to fall.

Lancashire batted first again in the second game and reached 159, with Hameed top scoring on 46.

But two wickets for Patterson-White and Lyndon James prevented Lancashire’s batsmen from making a real impact, as George Lavelle (40) was the only other batter to score over 20.

Lyndon James carried his bat throughout the chase with an unbeaten 98 to take Notts to a seven-wicket victory with 15 balls to spare.

Notts’ seconds take on Lancashire again in Second XI County Championship action starting today (July 31).
