Robbo steps up to full umpires list
The 48-year-old former England opener retired in 1999 and was appointed to the ECB umpires reserve list in for 2002.
But following the retirement of David Constant at the end of last season, Robinson has been selected to make the step up.
He said: “I’m absolutely chuffed and looking forward to the challenge of filling David’s boots.
“I’ve been on the reserve list for a few years and have umpired at plenty of matches across the country. Last season I probably did 70 days of work - next year I would expect to be working for 85 days or so.”
Chris Kelly, ECB umpires and match operations manager said: “Tim’s promotion is thoroughly deserved and we are delighted to welcome him to our full list.
“He has performed consistently well during the past few years on the ECB reserve list and especially during last season. Our congratulations go to him.”
Robinson is one of 24 full-time umpires for the ECB, who have also announced that our former fast bowler David Millns has joined the reserve list for 2007.
