Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 4 May 2011 v Yorkshire (h)

Despite being around the county circuit since his debut in 1996, Ben Phillips remains one of the fittest in the game and enjoyed a successful 2012 campaign with Nottinghamshire.

After spending most of his maiden Trent Bridge season on the sidelines, Ben established himself at the start of last summer and went on to take 32 wickets in 14 first class matches.

Previously on the books of Kent, Northants and Somerset, the Lewisham-born new ball bowler joined Notts at the start of 2011 but an ankle injury ruled him out of the early weeks of the season.

Putting that frustration aside, he proved his worth with a number of spirited spells in 2012, including a match-turning session at Durham where he nipped out four left-handers, Di Venuto, Stokes, Blackwell and Mustard, in quick succession.

A good enough bat to have registered a championship century, Ben begins 2013 with almost 3,000 runs to his credit and is closing in on 300 first class wickets.
