Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 4 September 2018 v Yorkshire
Ben Duckett earned a well-deserved return to the Test arena in the winter of 2022/23, and made the most of his opportunity by registering his first century at the highest level amidst a generous return for the series.
Opening the batting, he eased himself to a classy 107 from only 110 deliveries against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Lapping, sweeping, reverse sweeping, cutting and driving at will, the home attack had no answer as the diminutive left-hander eased himself to a series aggregate of 357 runs at an average of 71.40.
His selection had come off the back of another hugely impressive campaign for Notts, scoring over 1,000 runs from 10 Championship matches, a tally which included an innings of 241 away against Derbyshire.
Duckett has flourished since joining Nottinghamshire towards the end of the 2018 campaign but the all-format run machine had already earned a couple of T20 Blast winners’ medals from his time with Northants.
His third success in that competition came during the ‘behind closed doors’ season of 2020, when his unbeaten fifty guided the Outlaws over the winning line to defeat Surrey and lift the trophy at Edgbaston.
Very much in demand around the globe for his run-scoring, he has appeared recently in the franchise leagues of UAE, Australia and Pakistan, as well as in The Hundred for Welsh Fire.
