Date of birth – 26 May 1996, Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 31 March 2019 v Cambridge MCCU (Fenner’s)
One of the most dynamic top-order batters in world cricket, Joe Clarke hit the ground running when he joined Nottinghamshire ahead of the 2019 season.
Earmarked as one to watch by the Trent Bridge hierarchy after hitting an undefeated 177 against them during his Worcestershire days, he made scores of 112 and 97 not out against Yorkshire on his Notts Championship debut, and he has since gone on to secure a spot towards the top of the Nottinghamshire order in four-day cricket.
The clean-striking right-hander has become a destructive force in short-form cricket, too, and has single-handedly taken some of the world’s best attacks apart.
In 2020 he was a member of the Outlaws side that won the T20 Blast, a competition that he set alight by blitzing a 44-ball century at Durham that ultimately earned him the Walter Lawrence Trophy for the quickest three-figure score that summer.
His record in the shortest formats has earned him franchise stints in Pakistan, Abu Dhabi and Australia, where he notched his maiden BBL century this past winter whilst wearing the colours of Melbourne Stars.
Shrewsbury-born, Clarke played Minor Counties cricket for Shropshire in his younger days and has been followed into that side in recent times by younger brothers Robbie and Xavier.
