Nottinghamshire batsman Samit Patel is to appear on the BBC television favourite A Question of Sport.

The 32-year-old travelled to Manchester yesterday (Wednesday) to film the episode of the programme, hosted by former tennis player Sue Barker.

He joined captain Matt Dawson and snooker player Mark Selby to take on Phil Tufnell’s team, that also featured Mansfield swimmer Rebecca Adlington and Welsh hurdler Dai Greene.

“It was an amazing experience, an honour to take part, and a lot of fun with plenty of laughs,” said Patel.

The appearance comes less than a week after the PCA Players’ Player of the Year held his own A Question of Sport event at Mansfield Town’s Field Mill in aid of his testimonial year charities –  The Broad AppealThe PCA Benevolent Fund and The Trent Bridge Community Trust.

A date for the airing of the recording has still to be confirmed.
