Bad light and rain frustrated Nottinghamshire as they attempted to press home their advantage over Lancashire.

Notts added 104 runs in 30 overs before rain ruined the afternoon session, leading to an early declaration with the visitors on 367-9, but bad light meant Lancashire only faced one over before the close.

Skipper Chris Read hit 10 fours in his 63 before he was run out, which brought Andre Adams to the crease, and the Kiwi went straight on the attack in an effort to bring up the fourth batting point before the 120th over.

Left-arm spinner Gary Keedy was hit for six in successive overs, while Paul Franks contributed a valuable half-century of his own before he was caught behind off a top-edged pull.

Adams was caught at long-on having hit 33 off 32 balls but Ryan Sidebottom and Luke Fletcher were unable to add greatly to the total before rain arrived.

Lancashire are still 177 behind and provided the weather stays fair, Notts still have an outside chance of forcing a win on the final day.
