Peter Siddle has urged Nottinghamshire’s members to turn out in force as the Outlaws continue their NatWest T20 Blast campaign against Worcestershire Rapids.

“Members are hugely important not only to the club, but to the players,” he said.

“When you’re in the middle it’s nice to look out to the stands and see people across the ground, cheering and supporting us. It makes us feel loved and want to perform not only for Nottinghamshire, but for the fans.”

Siddle will be taking in the Outlaws’ crucial clash from the dressing room, as he prepares for the arrival of Durham to Trent Bridge in the LV= County Championship. Despite only arriving in the city in April, he has been struck by the commitment of the local supporters.

“We love just being able to hear people chanting, cheering. It makes it all worthwhile,” he said.

“That’s what I’ve enjoyed about being here. Even arriving in Nottingham during that first game, when I wasn’t playing, looking into the stands I was shocked by how many people there were here.

“To get to play a few matches, and seeing the people who turn up every match is great for cricket.

“T20 is a great game to get people involved, but I’m a traditionalist. I love Test match cricket, the red ball and white clothing.

“Hopefully it’ll be the same in twenty years time there will still be the same volume of people in the stands.

“But first, I’d love to see the ground looking full again for the Worcestershire match, and push the boys on to another win.”
