Fateh Singh offered resistance with the bat on day three at Lady Bay but it wasn’t enough to prevent Nottinghamshire falling to defeat against Worcestershire in the Second XI Championship.

Gareth Roderick and Alex Milton shared a 115-run partnership as the hosts pressed on having bowled the hosts out 216 in arrears on day two, and the declaration came 475 runs ahead, an hour before the tea interval.

In response, Singh was one of two Notts batsmen to make it into double figures as an experienced Worcestershire attack prevailed.

JJ Dell and Tom Fell departed early in the first session, but it brought Roderick and Milton together who carefully built the lead and attacked with regularity to both bring up unbeaten fifties before Joe Leach pulled his side in.

After first innings half-centurion Connor Brown fell without scoring in the second over, the top order followed.

After 16 overs, Notts sat perilously on 40 for five before 17-year-old Singh countered, albeit he watched three wickets fall without the addition of a run within four overs of his arrival at the crease.

Singh added 31 with James Hayes, including two straight sixes of the bowling of Josh Baker, before he was caught behind off Evitts bowling for 21 attempting to continue the rearguard action.

11 balls later, Worcestershire wrapped up the game, Evitts dismissing Hayes the same way to seal a 331-run win.
