Nottinghamshire took two morning-session wickets before rain scuppered any chances of further play on the opening day of their LV= Insurance County Championship clash at Northampton.
Fletcher and Paterson took the wickets before Umpires Neil Pratt and Richard Illingworth abandoned play for the day shortly after 3pm.
