Sam Seecharan rounded out a prolific season for the Second XI by striking a century in spite of a 43-run defeat against Yorkshire at Headingley.

Seecharan has hit over 1,400 runs for the Second XI this term, and added 110 to his total in the season’s final outing, but the Green and Golds were unable to complete a chase of 325 to win.

Despite Seecharan’s hundred, which came in 121 balls, and 70 from Travis Holland - with the two combining for a stand of 175 - a 6/80 return from Edward Burch saw the hosts snatch victory.

A swift second innings from Yorkshire, in which Harry Duke struck a 41-ball 54 from the top of the order, teed up a declaration at 140-5 after just 18 overs.

Byron Hatton-Lowe led the bowling effort with 2/27 from four overs, while there were also scalps for Joe Pocklington, Tom Giles, and Raheem Ahmed.

Seecharan’s century and the supporting act from Holland gave the visitors a scent of victory, only for Burch to remove the latter for the first of his six.

That precipitated a loss of four for 39, and despite a counter-attacking effort down the order from Ahmed of 26 off 22, Notts succumbed to 281 all out to fall short.
