Joe Clarke emphasised that he places his contributions to the team above any personal accolades after hitting an unbeaten 146 against Warwickshire on day two at Edgbaston.

The right-hander was in superior nick throughout his innings, unfurling numerous delightful strokes, and he revealed his preparation behind the scenes helped him build to the moment.

He also passed 1,000 County Championship runs for the 2026 season, becoming the first man to do that across both divisions while cementing his place as the competition’s overall leading run-scorer.

Clarke noted the importance of reaching such a benchmark, while also reflecting on the importance of partnerships and reserving particular praise for Ben Martindale, who hit a maiden first-class fifty.
