Nottinghamshire’s men’s squad will now travel to South Africa for their pre-season tour after the original itinerary in the UAE was cancelled.
Meanwhile, The Blaze’s tour, also to Abu Dhabi, has too been called off in light of the ongoing situation in Iran and the Middle East.
The Green and Golds will now depart the UK on Tuesday 10th March for a camp in Pretoria, returning on Saturday 21st March.
Two intra-squad red-ball games, both lasting two days, are scheduled as part of the tour, with the squad based at the High Performance Centre on the city’s university campus.
“Thanks to the fantastic work of our support staff and travel providers, we’re pleased to have been able to arrange an alternative tour at short notice,” said Director of Cricket, Mick Newell.
“Ensuring our players get the preparation they need ahead of a long season is vital, and it’s excellent that they will now receive that time after the cancellation of our original plans.
“We will continue to work hard to ensure The Blaze can be afforded the same opportunity, and our thoughts continue to be with everyone affected by the conflict in the Middle East.”
Further news on The Blaze’s rescheduled activities in the final weeks of pre-season will follow in due course.
