Second XI Trophy Final
Notts 212-9 (Mierkalns 69, Patel 53)
Sussex 213-4 (Patel 3-36)

Sussex won by six wickets

The 19-year-old top-scored in the Second XI Trophy final but was unableto lead us to victory, as a late collapse in our innings gave Sussex asimple target to chase.

Said Noon: ?Josh is a promising player and I?ve got high hopes for him.He seems to be learning all the time and so far we have only got totell him what to do once, which is a good sign.

?In both the final and the semi-final he made runs, which suggests he likes the big occasion.

?He played a very good knock but got out at just the wrong time, likethe rest of the top four unfortunately. We needed 240 for a par scoreand were in a position to achieve that at 170-3 with 10 overs to go.

?We never got any momentum going except with the partnership betweenJosh and Samit Patel. Sussex then got off to a flier and although ourspinners slowed them down, they had plenty of overs to spare.

?It?s disappointing to have got this close and then lose. But we woneight out of our 10 matches in the competition and everyone who playedmade a contribution.

?We?ve got one Championship match left for the season and I?ll probablyput in a few trialists. All-in-all it?s been a pretty good year, withseveral individuals playing very well and progressing nicely.?
