Guy Welton top-scored with 55 as Nottinghamshire’s Second Eleven fell to a comprehensive Trophy defeat to Durham.

Kyle Coetzer, the Durham opening bat and captain took the game away from Notts, batting throughout the Durham innings for an unbeaten 149 out of a total of 298-3 from their 50 overs.

Bilal Shafayat (35) and Mark Wagh (25) were the only other Notts batsmen to stay for any length of time as Notts struggled to score boundaries from the slow bowling of Scott Borthwick and Gareth Breese. Mitch Claydon returned to finish off the Notts innings taking 4-45 as the home side were dismissed for 183, losing by 115 runs

Shafayat had won the toss and put Durham in to bat but on a slow pitch Notts bowlers failed to make an early breakthrough and the score was 81 before O'Brien caught and bowled Ben Harmison for 40. Footitt and Carter claimed a wicket apiece but from 215-3 in the 43rd over Durham added another 83 in the last 7 overs.
