Heavy rain during the interval ruined Nottinghamshire’s Second Eleven Trophy game against Derbyshire after Notts had put themselves in a good position with a score of 276-8 from their 50 overs.

After losing Alex Hales for 9 with the score on 35, Akhil Patel and Bilal Shafyat added 101 for the second wicket before Patel was run out for 72 in which he hit ten fours.

Jason Mohammed was the third man dismissed for 36 in the 42nd over with the score on 209.

Shafayat reached his 50 from 91 balls but increased the tempo scoring a further 20 in 14 balls before being caught for 73 hitting a six and 5 fours.

Notts added 51 in the final five overs thanks to Paul Franks and Kevin O’Brien. However it was all to no avail the sides having to be content with a point apiece from a no result.
