Nottinghamshire and Essex have shaken hands on a draw at Trent Bridge.

Persistent rain meant that no play was possible on the final day but points gained from the draw have put Notts back on top of division one of the LV= County Championship by virtue of matches won.

Yorkshire are in second position, tied on 103 points, but have won fewer games and played two more four-day fixtures than Notts who face Kent at Tunbridge Wells from Friday.

David Hussey will attend a net practice in Nottingham on Wednesday and will be included in the team to face Kent.
