Nottinghamshire head off for their pre-season tour of Barbados next week, with the organisers notifying of amendments to some of the fixtures being played.

With six county sides using the island as their base for some much-needed warm weather training and two home XIs also participating in some of the matches there has been a revamp of the original programme.

Mick Newell’s side were scheduled to play their first match in the Barbados T20 Cup against Barbados in the Kensington Oval on the evening of Saturday 16th March.

However, with the historic venue now not available until the following day, after hosting the First Test in the West Indies versus Zimbabwe series, Notts will now play their opening fixture at the other major ground in Bridgetown.

The 3Ws Oval – named after a trio of West Indian legends, Sir Frank Worrell, Sir Clyde Walcott and Sir Everton Weekes, will now host the match against the Barbadian XI.

Depending on success or failure Notts will then play a semi final match the following morning in either the Cup or Plate competition, with the finals of both being at Kensington.

Based on the campus of the University of the West Indies, the picturesque 3Ws Oval is the home ground of the Combined Campuses and Colleges, who are also competing in the competition, along with Notts, Barbados, Northants, Warwicks, Hants, Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

On 19th and 20th March Nottinghamshire’s first 2-day match on the tour will now be against Derbyshire, with both East Midlands rivals travelling to North Star CC in the north of the island The final fixture remains as scheduled, against Yorkshire at Windward CC on 22nd and 23rd March.
