Nottinghamshire's Second XI fell to defeat in two days during their friendly against Leicestershire at Kibworth CC.

Resuming on 233-8, Leicestershire added just six to their overnight total to finish with a lead of 90 on first innings scores. Brett Hutton bowled Sykes (2) in the third over and George Bacon dismissed Claude Henderson (5), caught in the deep by Tim Miles in the next over.

With a deficit of 90 runs, Nottinghamshire continued to struggle losing Sam Kelsall first ball of the innings, caught at first slip by Robert Taylor off Hoggard. He then trapped Tom Rowe LBW for four in the third over leaving the score at 4-2. 

Sam Wood looked solid but misjudged a ball from Hoggard in the 13th over and was bowled for 25. James Sykes introduced spin and reduced the score to 78-4 as he bowled Adam Tillcock (12) in the 23rd over. He then went on to take two more quick wickets, opener Hassan Azad caught by Richardson for 40 and Alex Mellor (0) caught by Taylor at slip. That left the score at 91-6 at lunch, Brett Hutton 6* and George Bacon 4*.

Sykes continued where he left off before lunch and took the first break through bowling Hutton for 18 in the 36th over. Bacon made 34 before being becoming Henderson’s first victim with the score on 161 before Sykes claimed his fifth wicket when he had Tim Miles lbw without scoring. 

Henderson then ended the innings in the 47th over, trapping Ben Kitt LBW for 3, Notts falling to 169 all out, a lead of 79. Hoggard finishing with eleven wickets in the game after 3-42 in the seconds innings and Sykes was the pick of the bowlers with 5-29.

Leicestershire required just 80 to win and opened with Lewis Hill and Angus Robson who together took the score to 33 for the first wicket.

In the 8th over, Hill (7) was caught by Azad off Bacon before Patel joined Robson but only managed 5 before he was LBW to Luke Wood in the 18th over. 

Robson however looked solid, reaching his fifty in 67 balls and finished unbeaten on 52, Will Root (15*) hitting the winning run in the 22nd over to complete an eight-wicket win for the home side.
