The latest contest in the KFC T20 Big Bash League had a distinct Nottinghamshire flavor as the Sydney Sixers maintained their unbeaten run, downing the Hobart Hurricanes at the Bellerive Oval by a margin of seven wickets.

Four Outlaws took part in the match, the Sixers lining up with Michael Lumb and Riki Wessels high in their batting order, while the Hurricanes boasted Alex Hales and 2015 overseas signing Ben Hilfenhaus.

It was Lumb and Wessels who took to the fore too, Lumb proving destructive as he amassed 44, taking him past MS Dhoni and Mahela Jayawardene in the all-time T20 leading run scorer tally.

Wessels, on his debut for the Sixers, proved typically inventive and struck the ball well in making 22. Nic Maddison provided an excellent platform, thrashing a 12-ball 29 to get the Sixers moving quickly.

It proved less cheery for the Outlaws’ contingent in the purple of the Hurricanes. Hales fell victim to Brett Lee in the first over, steepling a catch to keeper Ryan Carters with just one run to his name. His evening worsened when he was offered the chance to catch Lumb on the boundary, but fumbled his effort to give his domestic team mate six more runs.

The Hurricanes were indebted to their captain, George Bailey, whose 71 came from just 44 with nine boundaries, but 3-34 from Brett Lee to herald their fearsome batting display which blew Hobart away.

Notts Outlaws hope to break the 10,000 barrier when reigning champions Birmingham Bears visit Trent Bridge for a NatWest T20 Blast encounter on Friday 15 May. Adult tickets have been reduced to £10 with further discounts in place for under 16s (£5), under 21s (£7) over 65s (£7) buying in advance. Secure your seats here.
