Virat Kohli has paid tribute to India's bowlers ahead of Thursday's ICC Cricket World Cup Semi-Final against Australia.

The pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma have shared 42 wickets during India's seven unbeaten matches in the tournament to date. Spinners Ravi Ashwin and Ravi Jadeja have 21 between them, helping MS Dhoni's men bowl out the opposition in each of their fixtures.

India embarked on their defence of the World Cup on the back of a winless triangular series versus Australia and England. And Kohli puts their transformation down to the performance of the bowlers.

"We knew we had things to work on and not much time," he said.

"The way our bowlers have reacted, and performed, with composure, confidence and aggression has been wonderful to watch.

"Our bowling attack has come into play in this World Cup - taking 70 wickets in seven games, that's probably been the difference.

"If we can continue to do that, we'll have a great chance come game day.

"It's the perfect time for us, an opportunity to do justice to the way we play."

Rohit Sharma, who top-scored with 137 in the Quarter-Final victory over Bangladesh, also praised the Indian bowlers.

"It will be a huge game and now there is no looking back," he said.

"We can’t afford any mistakes. All our three departments have done well in the last seven games.

"We have posted good scores, chased well and the bowlers have picked up 70 wickets in seven games.

"The fielders too have shown a lot of energy and we are doing well in unison. This shows that our team has a lot of caliber."

Play at the Sydney Cricket Ground gets underway on Thursday at 3.30am UK time.
