Eoin Morgan praised third One-Day International centurion James Taylor as England brought the series back to 2-1 with a comprehensive 93-run victory.

After scores of 49 and 43 in the first two matches of the series, Outlaws captain Taylor converted for his maiden ODI century as he anchored England’s total of 300-8.

And Morgan believes Taylor’s century was crucial on a wicket that was tough to bat on, the England captain also adding a fifty of his own.

“It was an absolutely outstanding performance. We’ve certainly spoken about guys going on throughout the series and today his was a crucial innings,” he said.

"The wicket became more difficult to play on as the innings progressed and James adapted beautifully."

"He is (great to bat with), he's rapid between the wickets - he sort of laps me, which is quite 'enjoyable'. He's very unique, the way he plays.

"Having played against him a lot in county cricket, he can be annoying to captain against - which is always a good sign if he then gets runs for us."

Taylor’s 101 included just five boundaries, the least in an ODI hundred for England, and the 25-year-old agreed with Morgan’s assessment of the pitch.

“It was not easy pitch to score on which is why I was plinking it around a bit,” said Taylor.

“The ball held up nicely for their spinners and the seamers as well when they were bowling cross seam. I was itching to play the odd more attacking shot and had to reign myself in.

“The last couple of knocks I have given it away so it was nice to go on.”
