Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Academy left Ordsall with 10 points on Saturday after their game was abandoned due to torrential rain, meaning Ben Kitt’s five wicket haul went largely unrewarded.

Notts, sitting fourth in the Premier League table, won the toss and elected to field, before the home side made 217 all out in 46.6 overs with Paul van der Heuvel scoring 72 and Jake Tongue 37.

Fast bowler Kitt finished with 5-35 while Anis Raza picked up two wickets from his six overs.

The match was abandoned 19 overs into Notts’ innings as the Academy notched 76-1, with Tim Wyatt unbeaten on 42 and Lyndon James scoreless.

Opener Chris Gibson was dismissed on 29 after facing 48 balls and, at the abrupt conclusion of the match, the Academy required 140 runs to win with 34 overs still to play.

Ordsall, meanwhile, gained nine points from the game – and, up next for the Academy, is an away fixture at second-placed Plumtree.
