Michael Lumb will return to the Sydney Sixers in January for the final three matches of the Big Bash League.

The Notts Outlaws left-hander will replace Jason Roy on the Sixers’ roster when the Surrey opener departs to join up with England’s white ball side in India.

Lumb will feature in matches against the Melbourne Renegades, Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars. He will also be available for the Sixers if they make the finals.

The 36-year-old has become a stalwart of the Australian competition having featured in every tournament since BBL|01.

He has contributed 1,157 runs in 43 matches for the men in magenta, averaging 28.92, and was their player of the year in 2015/16.
