A haul of 13 points from their drawn Second Eleven Championship fixture with Yorkshire was enough for Nottinghamshire’s Seconds to secure top spot of the North Group table and advance to the Championship final.

The Seconds, who enjoyed an unbeaten run over their nine games in the 2015 season, go on to face Middlesex Seconds at Radlett Cricket Club on September 7-9.

On the final day of their fixture against Yorkshire at Stamford Bridge Cricket Club, the hosts resumed at 1:55pm due to morning rain on an overnight score of 9-0, still 247 runs behind, with Eliot Callis on five and Mosun Hussain on three.

Notts made an early breakthrough with Will Gidman having Callis caught behind for six by Tom Moores.

Aaron Finch, on his return from injury, joined Hussain and the score had gone past fifty before the latter was caught by Ben Kitt off Simon Walton for 20.

That was the last of the joy for the Nottinghamshire bowlers for the rest of the fixture, Finch and Harry Brooks adding an unbeaten 111.

Finch added an unbeaten 104 to his first innings 60 whilst Brook was patient for his 36, a draw agreed when the score had progressed to 166-2.

Nottinghamshire finished with maximum batting (4) and bowling (4) points plus five points for the draw, the total of 13 points securing their place at the top of the North Group table and their progress to the final.
