As part of its continuing coverage of county cricket, the BBC will once again be providing live ball-by-ball commentary of every competitive Nottinghamshire first team match this season.

This will be the fifth consecutive season that the provider will cover every county cricket match played in England and Wales across its local radio stations and online.

That’s a total of more than 350 games taking place across nearly 800 days, done in partnership with the county game’s governing body, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

With commentary from Division One and Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship, and the two major one-day trophies, the BBC’s 39 local radio stations in England and Wales will once again let fans follow their teams throughout the season.

With local coverage being provided by BBC Radio Nottingham, commentator Dave Bracegirdle is once again looking forward to broadcasting the county’s fortunes to an audience of listeners, far and wide.

“It never ceases to amaze me just how widespread the interest in county cricket is,” says Bracegirdle.

“Since BBC Radio Nottingham began providing this service in 2010, we have had positive feedback from countries around the world.

“Covering the county I’ve supported all my life is just about the best job going – it’s certainly the best way to spend a summer.”

He adds: “The other county commentators provide excellent company over the course of the season and their sheer professionalism, depth of knowledge and – as regular listeners will know - sense of humour, help to convey the twists and turns of a day at the cricket.

“Hardly a day goes by without one of the players joining us on air, delivering a real insight into what goes on in the middle.”

The BBC commentary provides the perfect accompaniment to the Club’s live stream at home Specsavers County Championship matches, accessible via trentbridge.co.uk/live.

Trent Bridge Live also provides the portal from which to follow the scores whilst also accessing the BBC commentary.

Those wishing solely to listen can do so via the BBC Sport website. Simply follow the links to the Cricket home page and click on the commentary button for whichever match you wish to access.

In addition to the commentary, there will be regular half-hourly updates on BBC Radio Nottingham’s FM frequency, whenever the county is in action.

Later in the season, all matches in the NatWest T20 Blast competition will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Nottingham’s FM frequency, with Colin Fray, Robin Chipperfield and former Notts captain Paul Johnson joining Bracegirdle in providing the commentary.
