Notts Outlaws bowler Luke Fletcher is expected to be released from hospital today following a head injury sustained in the T20 Blast game against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston last night.

The 28-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham after receiving initial treatment at the ground and was kept in overnight as a precautionary measure.

Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club physio James Pipe has stayed with Fletcher throughout and said he was ‘in good spirits.’

“It looks like he is going to be fine, but we will obviously continue to monitor him very closely, as we did overnight,” said Pipe.

“The game has strong emergency care plans in place and I would just like to thank all the staff at Edgbaston as we worked together to implement them.

“They were amazing in terms of the support they gave and could not have done more. The staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital have also been fantastic too.”
