Haseeb Hameed hailed the application of the Nottinghamshire squad after stepping up their pre-season preparations in a drawn encounter with Loughborough UCCE.

Having set a the university side a siesmic 527 for victory, Notts were left with 45 overs to dismiss the visitors, managing a solitary wicket through Joey Evison before shaking hands with nine overs remaining.

However, stand-in skipper Hameed expressed his enjoyment of the tactical challenges posed by the fixture, and credited Notts' attack for their dogedness on a sweltering spring day.

The opener also shared his delight at notching a century on the final day of the friendly, sharing stands with Ben Duckett (77) and Joe Clarke (48) who themselves continued their fine form from assignments overseas in the winter.
