Tom Loten and Calvin Harrison hit half-centuries as Nottinghamshire’s Second XI moved to within touching distance of Leicestershire’s first-innings total on a rain affected second day at Lady Bay.

Loten remains unbeaten on 55, with Harrison alongside him on 74, with the pair’s partnership currently worth 120 for the fifth wicket.

The pair’s patient knocks took the hosts from 57/4 to 177/4 shortly before tea, after which the weather closed in.

Earlier, James Hayes was athletically caught and bowled by Mikey Finan for 7, while skipper Liam Patterson-White and gloveman Dane Schadendorf made 22 and 13 respectively.

Notts will resume on day three trailing the visitors by 29 runs, with six wickets in hand.
