The Blaze's Michaela Kirk and Nottinghamshire Club Captain Haseeb Hameed recently paid a visit to local schools in Nottinghamshire, to impart their skills and talk about their paths into cricket.
Michaela headed to Warren Academy in Top Valley, whilst Haseeb Hameed visited Sir Donald Bailey School in Newark; both schools are part of the Chance to Shine Primary Schools programme, which aims to inspire children to be excited about cricket whilst teaching them how to play and ensuring that they learn academic and life skills along the way.
The programme also provides support to teaching staff within the schools, helping them to teach the sport and develop a culture of cricket within their school. The school then has an opportunity to take part in local tournaments or arrange games internally - helping children take the next steps to progress their cricketing journey.
Michaela and Haseeb were both on hand to support during cricket sessions with year sixes, after taking part in a Q&A session during assembly, where they talked about their careers and the benefits of being a junior member at Trent Bridge.
Junior membership includes opportunities for discounted coaching along with the chance to watch both Notts and The Blaze train next summer during the season, along with a host of additional perks.
