Haseeb Hameed passed the major career milestone of 9,000 First-Class runs, but rain and bad light combined to limit the opening day of Nottinghamshire’s Rothesay County Championship Division One clash with Leicestershire at Trent Bridge to just 10.3 overs.

Notts captain Hameed understatedly clipped a single down to fine leg to pass the milestone at the end of the first over, but he was only able to reach 32 out of a total of 42 without loss thanks to the weather.
